I was furloughed within a week into lockdown 1.0. Whilst this was very unsettling, I saw this period as a ‘unique gift of time’ and I wanted to make the most of it to unlock my creativity. So I decided to launch a podcast (as you do!) to share the unique stories of everyday people talking through their top three ways of ‘Keeping It Real.’ Many of the guests featured work in broadcast and the creative industries.
Following redundancy and freelancing, I worked for Icon Films providing support to the Director of Production and the Production Management team on a short term contract. I then moved on to working for Wildscreen as their Network Manager to grow this brilliant community of wildllife filmmakers, photographers and conservationists and create valuable experiences for them. My role also included developing outreach programmes to connect with emerging talent in the natural history/wildlife filmmaking industry.
As of June 2021, I work for Pebble as their Marketing and Communications Manager. Pebble deliver world class automation, playout and management solutions to the broadcast community. I am responsible for developing a marketing strategy to achieve the company’s annual marketing goals, as well as delivering strategic and tactical campaigns to generate and convert qualifying leads, whilst developing an engaging voice for the brand across all marketing channels.
I have worked in the broadcast and entertainment industry for over 15 years with a range of experience in markting, events, project/account management and advocating diversity both as an employee and a freelancer. In my last employed role, I was managing projects to create automated cloud native tools for the versioning of packaged media (DCP & IMF) and building relationships with leading Hollywood Studios and UK broadcasters.
I have worked with the following companies as a freelancer:
I am also a board member of Rise – an award winning not for profit organisation for gender diversity in the broadcast technology sector. I have produced and hosted many of the episodes featured in the ‘Rise In Conversation With’ webinar series. Click on the Diversity in Broadcast & Public Speaking tab to find out more. 👆🏼
In December 2022 I joined The IABM UK Council. The IABM (International Association for Broadcast Media) are the leading provider of data, research and business intelligence reports in the Broadcast and Media technology sector.
My podcast also features poetry I have written. I boldy sent in an application to become Bristol’s City Poet having never shared my poetry with anyone ever before 🤦🏻♀️🙈. I wasn’t successful, although I received this feedback; “the judges were incredibly moved by your application which was the most original and affecting of all we received.” Check out the the podcast where you can hear me recite my poems.
